Moscow ABM interceptor sites

Satellite images at Google Earth helped identify several ABM interceptor sites located around Moscow. Unfortunately, only short-range interceptor site are close enough to the city to get inside the high-resolution area. Here they are: 1. Lytkarino - 16 interceptors2. Sofrino - 12 interceptors3. Unhealthy Growth Russia’s pharmaceutical market stepped up 30 percent in January to April, DSM Group reported yesterday. The market grew 35 percent past year, which is the absolute record for Russia and the highest world indicator reported in 2005. The stunning results could be mostly attributed to introduction of additional beneficial provision of medicine in Russia, but it will hardly drive the market in future. Moscow Gets Down to Arabs

Russian authorities work on creating an Arab-speaking satellite channel. RIA Novosti news agency is responsible for the project. English-speaking Russia Today channel has already been created under the guidance of RIA Novosti. The agency will invest $35 million into the new channel. RUSAL to Lighten Queensland

RUSAL has announced the plans to construct a power plant in Australian Queensland. It will feed an aluminum mill, which RUSAL will build there, and sell some portion of generated power on the local market. The final parameters of the project are yet to be specified by the work group of RUSAL and Queensland. The analysts say the project will cost around $4.5 billion to RUSAL, i.e. more than half of $8 billion, which the aluminum giant of Russia is willing to invest by 2013. Wimm-Bill-Dann grows on dairy sales

The company’s net profit in the first quarter increased six-fold thanks to the dairy business, while the situation remains unchanged in the beverage segment Wimm-Bill-Dann (WBD), the Russian fruit juice and dairy products company, has published its financial report for the first quarter of this year. WBD’s net profit stood at $17.4 million, six times more than in the first three months of last year. Rostelecom faces tax claims

The Interregional Inspection Board of the Federal Tax Service of Russia for the largest taxpayers No.7 has served the national long-distance telecoms provider Rostelecom with an additional RUR 3.474bn ($128.5 million) tax bill for the fiscal year 2003. The claim is based on the inspection of the company’s tax payments for 2003. The tax service claims from Rostelecom RUR 2.181 billion in unpaid tax, and RUR 1.293 billion in fines and penalties. Nordea vise le marché russe

Le directeur général de la principale banque nordique, Lars Nordström, affiche dans un entretien ses ambitions en Russie. Avant de se lancer dans l'acquisition d'une banque tournée vers les particuliers, dès cette année, le dirigeant a indiqué son intention de céder sa participation de 26 % au capital d'International Moscow Bank, sans doute au bénéfice d'UniCredit, qui en détient déjà 53 %.
