2006-11-05 - Independent on Sunday, The Investment banks UBS, ABN Amro and Russia's KIT Finance are understood to have been appointed to handle the initial public offering (IPO) of Russian power generator TGK-1, which will raise around $2bn ([pound]1.1bn). The St Petersburg company, which operates some six gigawatts of power stations (about a 10th of the UK's total capacity), will list in London and Moscow in the third quarter of next year. Howard 'spy' firm pays £1m to settle MI6 duping case

A corporate espionage company chaired by former Tory leader Michael Howard has paid nearly £1million to settle claims it impersonated MI6 officers. The firm, Diligence, was accused of stealing information from the accountancy giant KPMG. It was also alleged to have engaged in other illegal activities, including fraud, deception, bribery and computer hacking. Moscow : Over 2,000 from total 2,720 gambling houses have been closed

RUSSIA OFFERS MiG-29 TO EGYPT

Japanese Whisky to Challenge Whisky of Scotland in Russia

Japanese Suntory launches its whisky in Russia in an effort to conquer 10 percent to 15 percent of the country’s market by 2010. Swatch Group to Independently Import Omega to Russia

Having terminated the contract with Mercury, Swatch Group (SG) independently imports Omega to Russia. The first boutique of the company was inaugurated in Moscow GUM yesterday. Russian Airplanes Request Flight Plan into China

Russia has proposed to China that the two countries organize a joint aviation venture. Under discussion is the assembly of modernized Il-96 and Tu-204 planes. Experts in the field believe that the project has no future, because China is currently in a zone of strategic interest from international aerospace companies with whom it will be difficult for Russia to compete. New Procedure for Auto Parts Imports

A new customs procedure for the industrial assembly of automobiles will come into effect in Russia at the end of the month.
